2026 has the most anticipated film slate in the whole decade. Film fans around the globe are bringing their thoughts and criteria to light with new film releases. To Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Messiah, and Spider-Man Brand New Day, film fans definitely have a valid reason to visit cinemas this year! Most films are expected to flop, or make it into the 1 billion dollar club, in terms of box office.

One studio expected to make 1 billion, if not, 2 billion, is Marvel. All film fans know that Marvel has not been in their A game lately. Marvel’s 2025 film slate included Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While both films are critically acclaimed and loved by casual Marvel fans, Thunderbolts only made 382.4 million dollars worldwide, while Fantastic 4 made 522 million dollars worldwide. Despite both being critically acclaimed films, the box office did not show evidence. Sometimes fans like to forget the old movies and embrace the new.
This year, the man that does whatever a spider can, is coming back to theaters on July 31, 2026. The movie is called Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and follows Peter Parker and his journey as Spider-Man, after the events of No Way Home, which came out in 2021. Peter struggles in
his new life, hence why the movie is dubbed Brand New Day. He fights through the battles he has to face after everyone forgets about him in
No Way Home. But with little information about this movie, fans are unsure what this film can bring
to theaters. The only leaks that are known is that Sadie Sink, previously known for her work in
Stranger Things, was casted for this film, but the character she is portraying is still unknown. Some fans speculate that she will be playing a new Gwen Stacy, one of Spider-Man’s love interests. But one beloved character that some fans believe Sadie Sink will be playing is Jean Gray, aka Phoenix. Marvel
are reportedly soft-rebooting the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars which is slated for 2027, and they will be introducing The Mutant Saga, which mainly focuses on the X-Men. Jean Gray is also a part of that team, so making her that character only makes sense. But while Spidey fans are slowly but surely getting excited for their most anticipated film of the year, Avengers fans are also getting that same hype, with Avengers Doomsday, slated for December 18th, 2026. As the title states, Doctor Doom will be the main villain in this multiversal clash for vengeance. Marvel has already released 4 new teasers,
including the Black Panther, X-Men leader and warrior, Cyclopes, the star-spangled hero Captain America, and the Mighty Thor. The Russo Brothers, the directors for Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, have stated that, “These are not teasers, these are stories. Pay attention,” which gives fans even more anticipation for this film. Ayden, an 11th grader, exclaims that, “It’s crazy how the Russo Brothers are returning to direct.” Loki, the god of Stories, is also set to return, and will have a reunion with Thor. MCU fans have not seen Loki and Thor together since Avengers: Infinity War, with Loki’s death playing a vital role in that movie. There have been no leaks as of yet, but one thing is for certain, Doomsday is approaching.
Another highly praised franchise is getting its third movie, and that is Dune Part 3, dubbed, Dune: Messiah. The most ludicrous fact is that

this film is releasing on the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, December 18th 2026. Fans and even Robert Downey Jr. and Timothee
Chalamet themselves have dubbed this fatal day “Dunesday.” Dune is based on a saga of books, specifically six, made and published by Frank Herbet. The movies are written by Dennis Villeneuve, who also directed the first two movies, Eric Roth and John Sphiatis. The story
follows Paul Atredis, played by Timothee Chalamet, and his quest for vengeance for the death of his family, the Atredis family. There are also different families, dubbed “Houses” in the films. As Paul Atredis progresses to this dangerous planet, known as Arakis, he meets unlikely
allies. Paul meets Chani, played by Zendaya, and later she becomes the love of his life. As Paul explores Arakis, he blooms into a vengeful leader, renowned for his fighting skills and reflexes. At the end of Dune: Part 2, Paul betrays Chani, marrying Princess Irulan, played by
Florence Pugh, who also played Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts. The film is expected to be the best in the trilogy, and will definitely battle in the box office against Doomsday. Other notable movies include Disney’s: Hoppers, Masters of the Universe, Scream 7, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Mortal Kombat ll,
Supergirl, Micheal, a Micheal Jackson biopic and more. This year is definitely packed with the most anticipated films in this whole decade,
and will smash box office records. See you at the movies Patriots!
