May 5, 2026, McDonalds released a Stranger Things: Tales from 85, happy meal. Recently, Netflix dropped an animated spin-off series for Stranger Things, taking place after the snow ball dance from season 2, but before the aesthetic change and starcourt mall in season 3. The campaign partnered with McDonalds, and consists of 12 toys total, each a different character and or monster from the show. An activity book is also included along with a QR code which leads to an interactive digital experience, where saving Hawkins..is the top priority.

The happy meal box is also in theme, connecting to the vines seen variously in the series. On the back it quotes, “Netflix Stranger Things Tales From 85”, while on the front, it has the main characters. The toys are scattered on the sides of the box
This collaboration brought excitement from many all over and can be assumed that this will impact the company’s sales rate, also considering the recognition it has gained. This hasn’t been the only partnership done, Mcdonalds recently launched a HUNTR/X meal for Kpop Demon Hunters back in late March according to Morningstar.
A Senior who chooses to stay anonymous, mentioned she goes to McDonalds frequently and has also been a fan of the original show for some time. She was interested in the announcement of the meal leading her to later buying one the day it was issued. “The Stranger Things happy meal was really nostalgic. The packaging was really cool with all the unique details, the nuggets were fresh and crispy, and the collectible made it all worth it. Using my reward points also made my experience better because it made my meal free. This collaboration was one of the best and my favorite one McDonald’s has done.”
