As the spooky season comes to an end, bright lights begin to warp around houses, stockings are hung, and carols are sung. While the reappearance of the holidays begin after the resurrection of Halloween, Mariah Carey continuously uplifts this spirit by releasing her iconic advertisement promoting her most popular song, ‘All I Want For Christmas is You”.

While this advertisement has continuously reached its peak during the holiday season, it has caused a rise of various questions about both the ideas and collaborations within the advertisement itself.
Liberty High School Sophomore, Teagan Lemons, claims, “I feel like it really got people in the mood, but we need a thing for thanksgiving, and it doesn’t really help because I hear the ad but it doesn’t seem like people are really ready to celebrate” (Lemons).

Although this advertisement continuously broadcasted throughout social media, it can implement the rushed transition from halloween to christmas, potentially causing other individuals to feel rushed within their holiday plans and activities, including with the constant erasure of thanksgiving. While others may believe that this advertisement enforces the rushed transition of the holiday season other individuals believe the opposite and claim it helps with the sudden transition from Halloween to Christmas.
Liberty High School Junior, Samia Ossman proclaimed how “Yes, it did help because November first is the start of Christmas time” (Ossman). Liberty High School Junior, Adasia Campos, also agrees by stating, “it’s all good songs and a popular song everybody listens to around the holidays, and it does help since I am doing a dance for it in a class” (Campos).

For individuals who are more into the holidays, they may see this advertisement as a factor to look forward to with the holiday season. Seeing the rise of holiday content being broadcasted during November could enforce the holiday spirit on others, leaving other individuals more motivated for their holiday plans, leading to a series of mixed amounts of thoughts and reviews about the advertisement.
The end of the advertisement comes after Mariah Carrey’s iconic “It’s Time!” highnote, here are hints of sephora bags entering the chimney, resembling a collaboration with sephora within the advertisement.
Vice Principal, Tasha Hillmon, proclaims that “The advertisement is fine because at the end of the day Mariah Carey is known for her singing but she is a business woman” (Hillmon). Since Mariah Carrey has been in the music industry for about 35 years, she has done various amounts of collaborations within other artists, brands, etc. It seems like fans do not see this as anything different, they are just happy for Mariah Carrey success and are glad about growing herself throughout the years.
Although a series of individuals may have complex opinions and reviews within the advertisement itself, fans are still proud about the success that has risen over Mariah Carey over the years and are ready for this occurrence of this yearly tradition.
