One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Wicked: For Good, is finally set to release on November 25, 2025. The film stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and fans have been counting down ever since the first trailer dropped.

The movie continues the story from the first Wicked film, following the friendship and tension between the two witches as they grow. The sequel shows new songs, bigger sets, and a deeper look at how the events in Oz actually unfold. A lot of students here at Liberty have been keeping up with every update.
Eva Gates, grade 11, “ I’m really excited for the new one coming out. I’m especially looking forward to hearing the new music and seeing how the story continues .”
When it was announced that Wicked would become a movie there were a lot of mixed opinions if the movies would be as good as the musical. Miguel Castro, grade 11, said he thinks it actually goes above and beyond. “It takes a two and a half hour musical and turns it into a five hour movie.” Miguel said. “The music has more depth, and honestly I think it outdid the musical when it comes to songwriting.”

Eva also shared what she’s most excited to see this time around. “I want to find out what happens to Elphaba. I’m also curious how everything gets tied together in the end.”
The visuals appear stronger than the first movie, and it seems more emotional. The special effects, especially during the scenes in Oz, stood out the most, and the trailer is making everyone more eager for the release.

With all the hype surrounding it, Wicked: For Good seems like it’s going to be one of the biggest movies of 2025. Whether you’re a fan of the musical or just curious to see how the story ends, this is one film people are planning to show up for.
