The 2025 MLB postseason has been an exciting series of matchups leading to the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. A total of twelve teams qualify for the postseasons, six from each league the American and National. The rounds are wild-card series, division series, league championship series, and finally the World Series which is said to be the best of seven games between the AL champion and NL champion.

Coach Oliver and a couple of his varsity Baseball players were asked questions about their thoughts on the MLB playoffs. To start off, some of their favorite players in the MLB playoffs this year include Bryce Harper, who plays for the Philadelphia Phillies, Jazz Chisholm, who plays for the New York Yankees, and Pete Crow-Armstrong, who plays for the Chicago Cubs. Coach Oliver states, “He brings incredible energy and plays the game the right way.” One of his favorite moments in the postseason was “The Cubs beating the Padres in the wild card round”. A favorite moment from Chance Neilson was “Cam Schlitter’s 12 strikeouts.”

The top-two teams from both the American and National leagues received byes during the Wild Card round while the bottom four teams played best-of-three series. Both Coach Oliver and Grant Kelly said a bye is a disadvantage, Grant Kelly states, “A disadvantage because they get three off unlike the other team which is constantly playing.” On the other hand, Chance Neilson argues “An advantage because it’s more rest time and they can play better.” When asked who would win the World Series, they all said, “The Dodgers”.

No matter who takes home the trophy, it’s clear that Baseball fans are passionate about every moment. From disappointing to heroic moments, this postseason reminds the baseball community why the game continues to capture their hearts year after year. So the real question is who’s taking the World Series win this year, the Dodgers or the Blue Jays?

Hi! My name is Whitney, I am a junior this year. This is my first year in journalism. My favorite things are cheer, traveling, being with my family/bff, and trying new foods. I like Dutch Bros, making jokes with my bff, tumbling, and hanging out with my friends. I dislike spiders and snakes. I live with my mom, dad, grandpa, and my cats. Although, I have four half-older siblings. I do cheer, DECA, cross-country, and track this year. I’m most excited about meeting people and learning new things. My future plans are graduating high school, getting a scholarship doing cheer for college and hopefully becoming a detective and traveling the world.
