Newly AI Advancements: How AI is Changing Our World
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a big part of the world,
shaping the way people live, learn, and work. It is
used in apps on our phones, technology behind
self driving cars, AI is almost everywhere. But as
it continues to grow and expand the question arises:
Is AI a threat to society or a benefit to society?
AI has positive sides too. It can help doctors detect
disease earlier, create tools that save time on daily
tasks, and allow teachers to personalize learning for
students. Some people see AI as a way to improve
society and bring more opportunities.
On the other hand some people believe there are risks to using AI.
It can replace jobs, spread misinformation, or even mimic human
artistry. This raises questions on whether it risks privacy, safety,
and fairness. When interviewing Adrenalynn Hanato she expressed
her concerns about AI’s social impacts by stating AI could harm
people’s mental wellbeing. She said that sometimes instead of using
AI for its main purpose people often use chatbots like friends or therapists.
Other concerns would be the environmental impact AI can have. In an
interview Zuri Cortez and Adrennalynn Hanato pointed out how it uses
large amounts of water and energy to stop from overheating which could cause
global warming to speed up.
Another factor to consider about AI is how it impacts both education and
learning. Students often use AI as a tool to cheat on tests and many
assignments. Which as a result makes it difficult for students to actually
learn the materials. It also affects their academic performance because when
there comes a time when AI can’t be used, students that become overly
dependent on AI have no idea what to do or have the ability to fully understand
the material.
The future depends on how you choose to shape and regulate it. Should there
be rules to how AI is used or should it continue to be used freely as people
want to use it?
