With the arrival of Thanksgiving, there are multiple things that come with the holiday. As the holiday consists of gatherings of friends and family, feeling the love with each other, and sharing thanks for the things we have in life. But most importantly, we can´t forget the food. When people are asked about Thanksgiving, or hear the word, 9 times out of 10, food is the first thing that comes to mind. Most of the time, people also like the holiday just for the food.
While the holiday does have more behind it, Camille Clawson, a freshman, says ¨The food is mostly a big part of Thanksgiving, who doesn´t love it for the food?¨There are multiple dishes that would be seen on the dinner table, like mashed potatoes, a staple and favorite, turkey, yams, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and even more.
While there are the favorites, there are some foods that wouldn´t be caught on one´s plate, Jaidyn Kaseko says, ¨That cranberry sauce and green beans are just there for the presentation, while it might look nice, I would never eye it when thinking about what I want on my plate. There´s so much more than that and it tastes 10 times better.¨
Many students agree with this statement, and most have multiple foods that, if possible, they would not at all have present at the dinner table. Thanksgiving is not only about this and has more depth behind just the name; the concept of food is deeply engraved into its name.
