Did you watch the Grammys last week? If you did, you probably saw Beyonce, Kendrick, Doechii, etc. But do you think they really deserved it?
Before going into who deserved it or not, what are the Grammys? The Grammys are a series of awards presented each year by the United States by either the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences or the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The Grammys are commonly known as awards to recognize great work in the music industry. The only people who get invited to the Grammys are nominees. The Grammy Awards first started May 4, 1959, in California and New York, with 28 Grammys awarded.
This year’s Grammy has a couple of mixed thoughts. Many of our Liberty students feel some people shouldnt have deserved to win and that specific people should have won. Emersyn Crandall feels the Grammys this year were a scam, because many artists pay the grammys for themselves to win. “They sometimes pick people who absolutely should not have won.”

With all the mixed feelings about these, the biggest one being Billie Eilish. Billie Eilish is a 23 year old artist who has been making music since she was 13-15 years old, and still continuing her passion with making music. She first began singing with her brother who had already been writing and producing songs.
Billie Eilish has around 9 Grammy awards, and was nominated around 27 times. This year Billie Eilish was nominated for Best Album, Best Song, Best Record, etc. Sadly she didn’t win any of them. This has made a couple of people mad and see the Grammys differently. Billie Eilish has been a big inspiration to people over the years, so people hearing she didn’t win was really hurtful. “ I feel really confused and angry that Billie did not win this “Album of the Year” because I believe that she or Sabrina Carpenter had that one in the bag”. Said Emersyn Crandall. “I feel Billie is absolutely one of my biggest inspirations. I’ve been a fan of her ever since she came out with her first song in 2016
