Do you know what FCA is?
FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It’s a club where you practice your faith in school, spread the gospel, relax, and engage in activities with your peers. They meet up every Wednesday during both lunches in the teachers lounge in room 510, where you can join for free pizza and help with pursuing your faith.

It can be difficult to practice your faith in high school while also being a student athlete, it’s important to have somewhere to relax and recuperate with the word during school. FCA Club President, Junior Duante Johnson, tells us that “FCA is Fellowship of Christian Athletes, our main purpose of FCA is to help people learn more about Jesus Christ, more knowledge on the Bible, and help people who are trying to get into their faith and help them dive deeper in. Also to provide a great community, help people who have the same problems or relate and have a positive environment for people to go during school. School can be very overwhelming emotionally, and I feel like we provide a great space for everybody to ease down and hear about God and what he can do in your life.” With how difficult school can be both socially and academically it’s important to have people to spread positivity around our campus. With the Fellowship in FCA it allows people to improve themselves with the help from their peers. FCA Prayer Leader, Junior Leon Davis, states “FCA has given me a lot of points of views on the Gospel, on life, and how to go about it.”

FCA has a lot of great things such as the food, the fellowship, and the positivity, but FCA Club Member, Junior Christian Morris, shares, “My favorite thing about FCA is probably the word they give out, it impacts me, and my heart and impacts many others.” Morris also shares what he sees in the future of FCA, “I see a lot of potential, a lot of people going to FCA in the future especially when we graduate.” Finally, FCA Club President, Junior Duante Johnson, shares what it’s like to be President of such an important club, “It definitely comes with a lot of responsibility, but for me responsibility while serving God it’s a big task, but I love doing it because it’s headed the right direction, and when I make plans for events, and I’m working on what I need for the events I keep the same mindset which is I’m helping people learn more about God, and that’s what keeps me motivated. So it’s definitely not a negative thing, I couldn’t say anything negative about the President of FCA because it’s a great thing, I love to do it, it’s definitely opening my eyes to a bigger purpose that God has for me, I do play basketball, but FCA has opened my eyes to realize that basketball might not be the only thing that God has for me, especially with being the president.” FCA may stand for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, but it’s a club that’s meant for everyone to attend for advice, positivity, food, faith, and spreading the gospel, even if you’re not a Christian or an athlete.
