Minecraft, a childhood favorite game of many individuals. However, if you don’t know Minecraft, it is a sandbox game in which you can build, fight against monsters to survive, and craft many items to help you survive. Well, recently, this fan-favorite game got a movie adaptation starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, and many other well-known actors and actresses. The plot of the movie varies slightly from the game, as expected. IMDB describes the film as “four misfits suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.”

However, previously to being released, it was not well received by the public with many online poking fun at the trailers and calling the movie cringey and making fun of the CGI used in the movie. Sophmore Jhasia Jimenez described the CGI as “ really bad, and with the way CGI has grown, it could be way better than what the trailers show.” This does make sense, as you can tell that the majority of the movie is just CGI.
However, the public view has changed now that the movie has been released. Anonymous Minecraft movie viewer claim that “the acting was so bad that the movie was good.” meaning that since the acting was so terrible, it made the movie funnier and more entertaining to watch. Another Minecraft movie-goer, Isabella Malpartida, explains that “even though the story wasn’t there, the action and visuals were.” This just goes to show that plot isnt everything when it comes to movies. It also seems like the CGI ended up not looking as bad as the trailers made it seem.

Overall, even if the story was not there, the movie will still be perceived as good due to the nostalgia it brings about in its viewers, who claimed they felt like they were seeing “the end of their childhood” when they watched the movie.
