On New Year’s day two devastating attacks happened In America. The first that happened was local and happened right on the Strip. Matthew Livelsberger, a 37 year old who’s a highly decorated Army soldier shot himself in his Cyrbertruck. He parked right outside of Trump Tower and timed it so that the Cybertruck would blow up after he shot himself. It left seven people with minor injuries but no deaths. Livelsberger wrote that, “This is not a terrorist attack, it was a wake up call. Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence.”

The second attack occurred in New Orleans on New Year’s Day. A man named Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a pickup truck into a crowd of citizens. Police soon after the attack found an ISIS flag in the back of his truck. Not only that but prior to the attack he showed his support for ISIS on social media as well.

Many people believe that these attacks could be potentially connected. Ishaan, a sophomore at Liberty said,”They might be connected, they happened on the same day.” Police and the FBI have not been able to find any connection between the two attacks.
