Friday, August 19, marked the first game of the football season for our Liberty Patriots against the Palo Verde Panthers. Overall, we had 6 touchdowns, 2 sacks, and 3 extra points. We interviewed #20, Cayden Rosenow aka “Mighty Mouse” (grade 11), to get more insight on the game. During the 4th quarter, the stands roared with the chant, “We want Cayden!” and “Mighty Mouse!”, when asked how it felt to have the crowd cheering for him he replied, “It was a great feeling, I wish I could have done more with the play… it’s unfortunate but we’ll see what we can do in the future”. We also interviewed #71, Teva Batoon (grade 12), and found out more about what his life looks like outside of football. When asked if he wanted to go into the NFL he said, “No.”, with a laugh which was interesting since most of our athletes’ goals are to pursue their sport after highschool. We asked him what he wanted to do instead and he said, “I want to go to Arizona Christain College in Phoenix and study business and entrepreneurship”. He doesn’t have an exact idea of what kind of business he wants to start, but just wants to, “have the knowledge to do it if I want to”.
