Jona Hanson is a senior at Liberty High School and is actively involved in theater. He recently participated in the play “Murder on the Orient Express,” stating, “The show was a blast, and I loved it.” With the retirement of the theater teacher, Mrs. Chadwick, the staff had to adjust to a substitute teacher during the transition period until a new teacher is hired. Jona mentioned, “It went wonderfully, but we only had a month to prepare. Considering the time we had, I think we did pretty well.”
They will soon be performing one-act plays and also a musical, and Jona plans to audition for both. He enjoys being in shows with his fellow students, loves meeting new people who join the program, and appreciates the bonds that are created. Jona is excited to graduate this year but sad he has to leave his friends. The best part of his senior year was the murder on the Orient Express show. After he graduates he wants to serve a mission for his church and then go to an art school on the East Coast to get into Broadway. His favorite subject is English and he loves to read.
He says “It lets me write out my thoughts and articulate stories”. He likes building LEGOS and learning tricks from gymnastics or breakdancing or something that catches his eye to start learning.

Jona made tons of friends since he has attended Liberty and has an amazing personality. Jonas’ friend Jacob Mencia says “ I have been friends with Jona since his first day and he is one of the most bubbly people you will ever meet he is one of the only people I know that even when he is complaining he still has a smile on his face, he is a great friend”. Other students in the theater say he is one of the happiest people they have met Trae Gil, he says “I have been friends with Jona for two years, Jona is super fun and bubbly he is always excited and happy to be around everyone and he is just the coolest guy, Jona is an amazing friend and he is very outgoing and so sweet”. Jona is not on social media, “ It is interesting because he doesn’t go on social media and it is refreshing being around someone who doesn’t go on social media”.
