Hey Patriots! What have you been thinking about Liberty so far this year? The first week we had our welcome back assembly and the following week was full of spirit days! Many students around Liberty were not only involved in the Assembly but other activities so far too. Let’s hear from some of them and get their take on the school year so far.
Junior, Piper Homer, who has also been on Liberty’s cheer team since her Freshman year gives a look on how she’s feeling. She was asked how she felt on the first assembly back and she said ¨I thought it was really, really fun and I thought all the Sports teams did a good job at running out. My favorite part was performing for Cheer.¨ Piper has been on Varsity since her Freshman year and has always helped set up and be involved with the team. JV performed first but have you ever wondered how they get so prepared to do what they do? Well Homer shares how they do it! First we moved all of our mats from the cafeteria to the gym and then we put them all out. We then warmed up and sat there for an hour to wait, then performed.¨

Our Student Council makes all those fun posters you see around the hallway and plans each of our events. One event they recently set up for the first spirit week was BYOC, Bring your own cup! On National Lemonade Day they encouraged people to wear pink or yellow and bring their own cup to get some Lemonade out front in the quad during both lunches.

¨Spirit Week, I liked it. It was nice and simple but effective! I especially liked the dress as a teacher day, that was pretty cool.¨
Nullan Woodruff, A Freshman who is a part of Student Council said his favorite part about the welcome back assembly was how he got to help with such a big part of it. ¨We had to make letters for seats and we also made sure all clubs and sports were here. We made the posters for the event and the big banner you see behind us. My specific job was to hold open the doors and pass out little poppers.¨

Hi, my name is Greenly Cavazos. I am a junior at liberty and this is my first year in journalism. I love to go shopping, hanging out with my friend group, and travelling. I hate seafood, being stressed and liars. I have a very small family. I live with my mom and dad. I have two sisters, one half sister and then my biological sister. My half sister, Alena is 25 and has a family. My biological sister, Hannah is 19 and is in college in Texas. I have 2 dogs. I had 3 but my sister took him to college with her. I recently quit cheer, but might try out again for senior year. I have never been into any types of clubs, but if I were to do one I would probably do ASL. For this class, I am excited to make friends and learn how to become a journalist. For my future, my goal is to graduate high school and go to Tarleton State where my sister attends. My dream is to major in nursing. I have always dreamed of becoming an ultrasound technician, or a nurse for kids.
