August 14, 2023, Andreas Probst was struck in an allegedly intentional hit and run from 18 year old Jesus Ayala, and 16 year old Jzamir Keys in Las Vegas. With a stolen Hyundai Elantra, the boys can be seen in a video running over the bystanding cyclist with audible laughter present in the background. The boys showed no remorse, as they expected little to no consequences.

The majority of viewers believes these heinous crimes are both unjust, and terrible. When asked the question: what are your thoughts on the crimes committed, reporters get a multitude of answers that give a negative perspective on the situation. One of the responses were, “That’s messed up and it’s kind of sad,” from freshmen Angelina Sihabouth. Then, from another student, Mina, said, “They should have the death penalty.”

This case is local to Las Vegas and hits home for many people of the community. It also begs the question, what can individuals do to keep themselves safe anymore?
