At Liberty High School, sophomore Kaylee Gali is making a name for herself on the wrestling mat. Inspired by her older brother, who also wrestles, Kaylee began her journey in the sport at a young age. Now, as a dedicated 10th-grade competitor, she’s proving that hard work, determination, and a strong support system can push an athlete to new heights.
While Kaylee doesn’t pinpoint a single standout match, she finds meaning in every competition. “Just placing always made them special,” she says. However, one of her biggest challenges has been competing against heavyweight opponents. Still, she embraces each match as an opportunity to improve. To prepare, she focuses on conditioning and gets in the zone by listening to music before going onto the mat.
Beyond her family, Kaylee credits her coach as her biggest motivator. “He’s my biggest motivator,” she says, emphasizing the impact of his guidance. Like any athlete, she has faced setbacks, including tough losses and injuries, such as a pinched nerve and a sprain. However, she refuses to let obstacles define her, always pushing herself to come back stronger.
Looking ahead, Kaylee plans to continue wrestling throughout high school and into college. With her family’s support, a strong coach, and a clean work ethic, she’s determined to make an impact on the mat, both at Liberty High School and elsewhere.
