A blockbuster trade shocked the sports world Last Saturday as superstar Luka Doncic was traded to the Lakers from the Mavericks. The trade also included Lakers power forward Anthony Davis and shooting guard Max Christie to the Mavericks. The Lakers sent Jalen Hood-Schifino to the Jazz. The Lakers also got Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris from the Mavs. Luka Doncic who spent the last seven years with the Mavs and hasn’t played since November with a calf injury was “shocked” about being traded.

The Mavericks who made the finals last year are sitting at the 8th seed and in the play in-tournament if the season ended today. Mavericks fans are not happy with the trade as they are boycotting everything that has to do something with the team. The fans hold a protest outside the Mavericks arena chanting “Fire Nico” who is the GM for the Mavs. Lebron James was shell-shocked about the trade when he was at dinner with his family in New York City after the Lakers beat the Knicks. Lebron who is 40 years old and the oldest player right now in the NBA has spoken to the media about retirement which is probably why the Lakers got Luka.

Laker’s General manager, Rob Pelinka had this to say about the trade “Luka is a one-of-a-kind young global superstar who will lead this franchise for years to come”. The Laker’s got luka because the Lakers want to win championships now, which Pelinka also said “His killer instincts and commitment to winning championships will be a driving force for this team.” The Lakers are sitting at the 5th seed right now going into the all-star break and looking for a run for the top seed in the west.

A freshman basketball player here at Liberty was asked about The trade, which he said” I was surprised about the trade”. He was also asked if Luka and Lebron will be good together which he said” Yes because they are on the same team now and it’s going to work out very well.” Other Liberty freshman named Angel felt that Luka got betrayed by the Mavs when he said “I think Mavs betrayed him because that was their star and they traded him away.”Luka faces his old team twice this year, the first meeting on February 25th in Los Angeles and on April 9th in Dallas.
