Mr. Cernak is one of our history teachers here at Liberty Highschool. Before he started working at here, he was teaching history at Rancho Highschool. He’s always had a passion for track, “I ran track in high school and I loved doing it their”. He even said it helps cross-country runners get ready for the season. He started doing track himself in 10th grade when he was 15.
One of his most sincere memories before working here was moving to Las Vegas, which he found super exciting. For those interested in track, Mr. Cernak mentioned that intramurals start on January 21, and the real season kicks off on February 17. He believes that all you need to succeed in the sport is a good attitude and a willingness to work hard.
Mr. Cernak’s most memorable high school moment was winning the state cross-country championship with his team. He realized he wanted to be a teacher during his sophomore year in college because he enjoyed teaching new things to people in a club he was in. He has a girlfriend who he met while they were both working at Rancho, and they’ve been together for seven years.
And as for his haircut that students like, before 2015, he had the Justin Bieber side cut but then decided to change it to his current style. Mr. Cernak’s journey and experiences make him a relatable and inspiring teacher for all of his students.
