Pixels or people, what do you prefer? Students here at Liberty High School have a variety of opinions on what they prefer. Tehani Chinen, a senior attending Liberty High School, would choose animation movies over live action. “In my opinion, I’d rather prefer watching animated movies. Animated movies give me a chance to let my imagination

and creativity wander. It brings me back to my childhood, playing outside and letting memorable stories from in my backyard.” Alaina Diaz would counter that argument, stating, “I would rather watch live action movies because I get to see real life people acting in a movie and it gives it more of a realism effect which makes it more relatable.” In some people’s opinions, animation feels more magical to them. Khaili Higa explains, “Animated movies make me feel more magical because they have no limits when it comes to creativity. Animators can create entire worlds and characters that defy the laws of physics and reality, making everything feel more fantastical and enchanting.

Chinen also agrees stating, “I think that animated movies feel more magical to me because they take in animated objects and bring them to life. They give them all five senses and that stands out to me.” There are many contributions to movies that add onto which people prefer, whether they want to see more imaginary visuals that aren’t possible in real life, but also real life visuals that have creativity and make people’s visions come to life.

Alaina Diaz would rather prefer live action and think that they have better visuals. “I think live action has better visuals because a lot of directors want to add emphasis to a set that makes it more visually pleasing and having more detail with textures adding a textures realism to the set.” Higa on the other hand has a different opinion, “I think animated movies have better visuals because they are normally very colorful. With animation you are able to make scenes up. Allowing animators to make fantastical elements that may not be achievable with live-action movies.” What side do you agree with, pixels or people?
