It’s nothing new that fast food restaurants are not winning an award for cleanliness. Recently there has been an outbreak of E-coli. E-coli is a group of bacteria that resides in your colon without harm. Most strains do not cause harm to humans other than the few that affect the kidneys and nervous system. One of the strains that affect people has found its way to McDonald’s onions. Many people have been impacted by this outbreak.

People are unsure of what has caused this but people have speculated, such as sophomore Kamari Black.
“They add too much stuff in it, too much chemicals.”
However, some people think that it is from being unsanitary when it comes to preparing food. Mcdonald’s is one of the top and most in-demand fast food restaurants in the world, in turn, employees swiftly prepare food. This can cause mistakes such as bacteria getting into the food. However, if the case is that a worker picked up the bacteria and wasn’t sanitary in the kitchen then they would have to be working at every location the E-coli showed up in.

However, one sophomore had a different idea about what led to the bacteria being in the quarter pounders. “Most likely someone with E-coli in the factories or just like whoever sent them the onions over to the actual Mcdonald’s infected it,” speculated Daniel Suarez. Therefore it does make more sense for there to be a problem with the people supplying the onions.
With other foods in Mcdonald’s having a higher chance of carrying deadly bacteria, some people think all their food should be tested such as freshman Kaylee Vergara, “If it is in one thing it could be in another.” After this outbreak a lot of people aren’t going to trust anything from McDonald’s, especially knowing that they don’t test their food properly and they let food infected with a disease go out to the public.
Hopefully, this outbreak helps McDonald’s take more precautions when it comes to preparing food for the public. The investigation is still ongoing as of today.
