In the year 1989 The Menendez Brothers killed both of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. Erik and Lyle admitted to murdering both of them with a shotgun inside their Beverly Hills home. The brothers said they killed their parents out of “self defense”. They called it self defense because they went through a lifetime of emotion, sexual, and physical abuse from their dad.

Recently, new evidence came out that could help them get out of prison. This evidence was a letter that Erik sent to his cousin complaining about the sexual abuse he went through not long before he killed his parents. A freshman at Liberty High School, Austin said that they shouldn’t stay in prison because,”They didn’t deserve what happened to them.”

The second piece of new evidence is a sworn statement from another person who said that Jose Menendez sexually abused him as well. This third victim, Roy Rosello, was in a band called Menudo. Jose was an executive at RCA Records who signed Menudo to a recording contract. Roy claims that Jose drugged and sexually abused him when he was only 14.
