When people hear about pineapple on pizza, people usually would think ¨Fruit doesn’t belong on pizza.¨ However tomatoes are also included in pizza, but it’s debatable whether tomatoes are also a fruit, so if fruit doesn’t belong on pizza, what about the sauce?
Some say the pineapple balances the flavors and it brings a sort of balance and contrast, Jaidyn Kaseko, a sophomore says, ¨I think that it really isn’t as bad as people seem to make it out to be, it can be refreshing and adds another type of flavor.¨ Pizza is something people can adjust to their own likings, so there are conflicting opinions.
Hawaiian pizza is not usually a first choice for many because they think the flavors don´t clash well together. While it is a sweet and savory option, some students like Brianna Pelayo say, ¨The texture of the pineapple that´s soggy doesn’t clash with the texture of a crispy doughy pizza.¨ Pineapple is a tangy fruit that gives a little bit of sweetness, so when people don’t like it for how it ruins the flavor of pizza and is too off, it’s understandable. She also mentions, ¨Even though it’s not great, it is all about what you prefer.
Toppings are customized for everyone’s liking, you can choose what not to add, but I would say it is just unusual for someone to genuinely love Hawaiian Pizza.¨ So all in all, toppings are toppings, and you can like what you want.
