Recently, wildfires have been raging throughout California, scorching everything in its path. Some of these fires include: the bridge fire, the line fire, and the airport fire. These were the biggest and most destructive fires. In these fires about 234 structures have been destroyed in total.
The bridge fire has been affecting many people in the Wrightwood and Mount Baldy areas. Many structures that were important to locals in Wrightwood have been burnt down. The popular camping site up in the mountains, Table Top Campgrounds, has been completely torched. The visitor center, the forest surrounding the campsite, have all been burnt down by the fire. The firefighters have all been working tirelessly to put out the flames surrounding the area and have recently succeeded.

As of today, the 27th of September, the containment has reached 95%. Around Wrightwood, signs can be found everywhere praising firefighters for their service. A Wrightwood resident explains that everytime she sees a firefighter she says
“Thank you for doing everything you could to save our town.”

About 73 structures were burnt down in the bridge fire in Wrightwood area and the cause is still under investigation. No new information has been revealed to the public about the cause. The fire scorched about 54,878 acres as of September 27 2024. There have been 5 injuries reported but no casualties.
Many Wrightwood families were extremely frightened by the sudden evacuation. An anonymous Wrightwood resident reflects and notes that the fire was “ upon [them] and literally threatening [their] only road in and out of the canyon where [they] live. [their] lifeline to the outside world and the window to escape was closing incredibly fast!”
Many buildings in Wrightwood have had to shut down due to the effects of the fire.
