At Liberty High School the ASL club helps bring students together by creating a bond through language. Ms. Frederking is the ASL teacher here at Liberty. She has been teaching since 1995 and has been here at Liberty for 4 years now.
Ms. Frederking wanted to find ways for kids to communicate without actually talking. ASL which stands for “American Sign Language” has been a way for disabled kids to communicate without actually talking Ms. Frederking states that “It teaches kids with disabilities to be able to communicate and talk with people”.
ASL’s light in the community shines bright. According to Ms. Frederking, “It bridges and connects hearing and deaf students to the world.”. The ASL classes and club help bring students with hearing disabilities and mute disorders together and out into the world.
