Do you want to join a club to meet other people? Are you a Senior or Junior who wants something on your college application that will make it look upstanding? You can join the key club in room 200 at 1:30 pm on Thursdays every week. You can also contact the advisor, Tanisha Ellerbe to join the Key Club.
Many people don’t know what Key Club is. Most people think it’s about making keys. (P.S. It is not). Key Club is a service project club. This is a student-led club, with their president, Thanaphan “Gabe” Nilanont. Members volunteer at local organizations and communities. Most of the time the students help set up or run local events throughout the community. Key Club lasts throughout the entire school year, it is an active club during the summer if you’re interested in joining. Most of their events are in the fall, so enter as soon as possible, if you’re interested in joining. Don’t worry though, they also have events during the spring.
This club is recommended for students because this counts towards your service hours on your college application. It also shows colleges and future jobs where you have work experience and help others. This club doesn’t just volunteer for local organizations. They also volunteer for service projects around the world, they’re an international organization. According to some of the interviews, there are fees you are required to pay. Also, if you want a chord for graduation you need to have over 50 hours of service.
Students get opportunities to serve and meet new people with similar interests. They build relationships with the people they help and bring service to. If you go to Key Club, I suggest you keep an open mind about how this program is mainly a service-oriented club. Yes, you are there to make connections, but you are also there to help the people in various communities—more importantly, the people in your community.

Thanaphan “Gabe” Nilanont
In our interviews, we interviewed 3 people in total. One of them is the club president Thanaphan Nilanont. Thanaphan, also known as “Gabe”, is a junior. He has shared, “Key club brings a lot of people together as a community and we definitely make it more of a family instead of a club and so we bring spirit and just makes school a better place to be at”
Aaron Tejada
Another student at Liberty we interviewed was Aaron Tejada. He is a class of 2025, a senior. He shared, “I feel like Key Club has a really big impact especially in making communities and bonding together as we come together to help out communities”.
Isaac Abebe
The last student we interviewed was Isaac Abebe, who is also a senior. “I think Key Club positively impacts the school because it helps people build new groups and do something good for the world by helping those in need and building school spirit sufficiently in smaller groups.” You see how this organization has an impact on these 3 students. This club brings people together in unison; it’s less of a club and more of a family. It has a big impact on many people in different social groups. They could find another person who’s exactly like them. They build a new group of people, a group of people who want to help others who need service.
