In early August of 2024 Ukrainian troops were sent into Russia. They were sent 18 miles into Russia in the region of Kursk. This led to around 200,000 people being evacuated from the Russian border area. This counter offensive move has led President Vladimir Putin to call it a “major provocation.”
It has been three weeks since Ukraine has invaded Russia. Ukrainian soldiers have taken many small Russian villages and towns near the border area. General Oleksandr Srsky claims that Ukraine has taken about 500 square miles of Russian territory. Russia has been focused on attacking the east of Ukraine to get to the big cities. In result they had to form volunteer groups to fight against the Ukrainian invasion.

Many people all across the country agree that Russia is doing the wrong thing. Even most people that live in Russia can agree that the war is not a good thing. Students at Liberty High School think this as well.
Ireland, a sophomore at Liberty High School said,”I think Russia is in the wrong, they didn’t have any good reasons to go after Ukraine.”
