After the Stranger Things writers confirmed a fourth installment of the award winning thriller, viewers have waited anxiously for a taste of what’s to come. The biggest cliffhanger and death at the end of season three left the audience with endless questions. The release of the teaser trailer from Netflix gives the vaguest of answers to the hungry fans.
The trailer starts off in what appears to be a Russian work camp in winter. There are no words, and nothing but a slow zoom on one of the workers. The worker reveals himself to be Hopper, who was presumably dead at the end of season three. It then cuts off, and the viewer is left speechless, with even more questions.
All the viewer knows is that Hopper was the “American prisoner” shown at the end of the last season, and that he is alive, and still in Russia. What the viewer does not know is what is happening with the kids back in Hawkins, the lab, or the Russians who still have a “demadog”.
With the release date still not available, all viewers can do is binge the previous seasons, and try and decipher the meaning of the teaser. The cast has also released a fittingly vintage video to their instagrams, going behind the scenes and ending at a table reading. This gives hope to a release date being set soon, and hopefully a trailer that gives the viewer more information.
According to the producers, filming has moved to New Mexico, and most of the authorities are in the dark just like the viewers. It’s up to whatever magic the Duffer Brothers can conjure up, which has yet to disappoint.
