March 18, 2023, opening night for Taylor Swifts’ The Eras Tour. The 5 month long list of tour dates kicks off in Glendale, AZ with Taylor alongside two openers, Paramore and GAYLE.Other openers for her shows include beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. Although these artists are very diverse from the music Taylor produces, she hand-picked all of them herself and says she enjoys and listens to all of their music.
The tour’s name comes from the fact that Taylor announced she will be performing songs from all 10 of her studio albums! Fans are overjoyed by this announcement and are expecting costume changes and sets that match the energy each album brings.
The reason this tour has become so popular online is due to the fact that the last time Swift was on tour was in 2018 when she showcased her album ‘Reputation’. Since that tour, she has released 3 albums and re-recorded 2 of her older albums. With so much new content to perform, and older albums to re-perform, it seems like everyone is waiting eagerly to get tickets. But, that’s where an issue emerges. General admission ticket prices range from $50 to $500 and VIP packages are selling for $200-$900, making tickets very unattainable for the general public.
Online ticket sales were so crazy that sites selling tickets to the shows couldn’t predict the volume of fans trying to buy tickets. Which led to Ticketmaster, a ticket buying/selling website, to completely crash due to the volume of people on the site. But, even with all of this madness, loads of people were still able to get tickets and enjoy the show.
According to first hand sources, Swift performs 44 songs in total, making her set alone 3hr 15min! Photos and video from the shows also showcase just how elaborate and well planned out each set and outfit is, creating more excitement for upcoming shows.
