The new Mean Girls starring Angourie Rice, Reneé Rap, and Auliʻi Cravalho has been highly anticipated across the internet, but do Liberty students feel the same? Production of the movie musical has been underway since March of 2023 and is planned to be in theaters in early January.
With the recent release of the trailer there have been various opinions on casting choices and if there should be a remake. A sophomore named Lily Rothschild stated,“ I think the originals are the best”.
It has also been disclosed that the remake will in fact be a musical. A freshman Myah expressed, “I think they shouldn’t have remade it into a musical, they should’ve remade it with the actors but older.” As the release date looms closer, fans grow more excited, one of which is Mrs. Baker,“I’m excited to see the movie, it looks really good!” Mrs. Baker discussed how the movie will become more relevant to teens today with the use of smartphones, “…they originally made it when smartphones were not really a thing so there’s lots of new stuff they could do.”
With this in mind would you go see the new Mean Girls? Do you think it will be up to par with the original? And most importantly do you wear pink on Wednesdays?
