With the Oakland Raiders moving to Las Vegas, and a rumor that the Oakland A’s may even move, and of course, the Golden Knights being the expansion team for the National Hockey League (NHL), there were some talks if Vegas would ever get a professional basketball team. Though we don’t know what team may come or if we’ll get another expansion team, we do know that an arena is being created for the future team.
Construction was supposed to start in 2017, but due to a lack of funding, it was pushed back until this year. In June of 2019, it was announced that All Net Resort and Arena was completed funded, costing $2.6 billion.
“As we stand right now, we have 100 percent, which is $2.6 billion,” The owner, Jackie Robinson, stated to commissioners.
Robinson, an alumni of UNLV and a former professional basketball player, has wanted to create an arena and bring a team here.
The arena is not only going to be for a team to play and for fans to watch, it’s also going to be a hotel with all the features that one is supposed to have. It also is supposed to have multiple restaurants inside.
As of now, not much has been built but it’s only been a few months since the rest of the money was collected.
