If you enjoy volunteering through community service then Key Club is the place for you! Key club is “all about interacting with different people and making new friends while also collaborating with different ideas,” according to Sofia Camacho. Meetings are every Thursday in room 200 and is run by Ms. Vivian Echols. Key Club has done many events including RTC, Ellis Fall Festival, and many Opportunity Village events.
RTC (Regional Training Conference) was a big event that just recently happened during Key Club. There were many workshops available to the members including, making bracelets for children in hospitals, making toys for dogs, learning how to become an officer of Key Club and more.
Meeting activities include icebreaker games, covering upcoming events, and Happy, Sad Change.
Happy-Sad change happens every meeting and is when a panda shaped bucket gets passed around. Members then put money in it and explain either why they are happy today or why they are sad.
Chants are one of the main things that Key Club is known for. Some chants that Key Club do are, How Do You Feel?, Superstar, Good Job!, and more. Freshman Kristen Jackson explains that “chants and community service are a big part of Key Club. Showing spirit is very important in our club.”
Officers of Key club are also very present during the meetings and participate in chants and help organize the events. The President of the club is Elijah Sihabouth, The Vice President is Luluca Manandhar, Secretary ia Vivian Lee, Treasurer is Gabe Nilanont, Editor is AJ Bermudo, Webmaster is Aaron Tejada, and the Class Rep is Jay Verona.
