On October 11, 2025, Liberty’s homecoming took place at Stoneys Rockin Country from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Leading up to the dance, the week of October 6 – 10, Liberty had a spirit week going along with the theme. “Once Upon A Homecoming”.
To kick it off, actual spirit days! Monday started with Marvel VS Star Wars and some students definitely showed out! Following, Tuesday was culture day. Whenever this spirit day pops out, lots of students bring a flag to represent. Midweek excitement hit with Tangled ( Crazy Hair ) on Wednesday. Not only did students participate all these days but teachers did too! The spirit continued strong by Thursday with Disney Ears & Gear. So many cute and fun outfits were seen around campus. Finally wrapping up the week with high energy and an assembly, Friday brought Monsters University to Liberty high! Each class was set to wear their own color like monsters from the movie.

Monday really started a kick off to the week with students dressing up like characters from the movies in full costume. To bring in some more fun, during both lunches, Spiderman and Darth Vader were out wandering the quad taking photos with students and engaging in funny conversations relating to their character. This was a great and clever way to start the week off and get kids excited. Mrs.VaNess, the Advisor for Student Council who set them up at Liberty stated “Even though their high school kids were all still kids at heart. There’s something nostalgic about seeing a favorite character and it happening right here, on your campus during lunch. It brought crazy energy and we were able to hit so many different students because of that. Not just your standard students who always engage, always interact, but they were really able to connect with a wide range of students and kind of bring a little bit of fun and play to our campus”. This really brightened the day for students and allowed them to bring out an inner part of themselves most don’t see being a teenager.
Taking off on Tuesday, many students of their culture came with some awesome outfits. Around campus, flags were carried and shown off of many different kinds. Senior Sarahi Reyes states “Something I appreciate most about my culture is the Music. It tells a backstory of Puerto Ricans and how our flag was illegal to hang up publicly. We get more recognition now, especially from the music artist Bad Bunny, he tells our story through his music”. This is an important topic for people of this ethnicity. It takes confidence and empowerment to speak on cultural matters.
The middle of the week brought all types of craziness. Hair paint spray was being done by the student council during lunch in all different colors and a number of students brought crazy colored wigs in different styles! Mrs. Jones, the ASL (American Sign Language) teacher in the 800s hallway, had a cup of noodles sticking from the top of her hair. A student had also done the same yet stuck two! Wednesday was filled with creativity and Liberty loves to see it!
Throughout the week Liberty was really bringing the fun with events after school hours. On Wednesday the annual Foodie Fest took place! Clubs and programs participate in this to raise money to help their organization. All types of food are sold ranging from baked goods to cooked platters. Lumpia is a famous choice always done by Key Club and it kicks off every year! The president of GSA club (Gay Straight Alliance) Acid Taylor, spoke on selling at foodie fest this year. They state “We sold a bunch of arrangements of candies, each being 50 cents for one, two for $1, and five for $2. I’m very, very happy and appreciative of the people who did buy from us, it meant a lot”.
Really bringing in the once upon a time, Thursday showed out in Disney Gear! Liberty encouraged students to wear their Mickey ears and clothes. The collection of Disney ears has been growing since the park opened on July 17, 1955. The ears originally started with the classics and evolved into all the collectible ones today. Disney has created hundreds of them with themes going to infinity and beyond. Students around Liberty had all different kinds including movies like Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Tangled, and even Superheroes. Another big piece of merchandise Disney has dropped are their sweaters. They hold great comfort and were great for showing off on Thursday.
At 6:00 PM that afternoon the Semi-Annual Dodge ball tournament was held in the main gym here at Liberty. There were a total of 12 teams: Rank Boyz, The YVL, The Losers, XC, Goon Squad, Gbabyzzz, Certified Ballers, Drumline, The 6 7’s, Ebawp, Taco Bell, and GBG. Ebawp won the tournament and played against the teachers during the assembly the next day. Gavin Quinto, the Senior Historian for Student Council, was a host for the game and got to have some fun doing so. “My highlight of my night would have to be the end because at first I announced the semi-finals wrong, I thought it was the finals. It was against Ebawp and Goon Squad. They were versing each other and I thought this was the finals, but I was wrong. So then I went to go give them their medals, but then I had to take it back because this wasn’t the finals! After that whole shenanigans it was finally the finals, and funny thing was, it was against Ebawp and Goon Squad again. The same people won that round and it was Ebawp, and they were so excited. It was nice to see how happy they were”.
Lastly, Friday showed off all the vibes! Students and teachers wore all their fun outfits including the colors the class their in was given or the staff. Funny and simple seen all around depending on peoples styles. Basic outfits with just a plain color shirt popped out but so did fun ones with fluffy skirts and accessories. As patriots showed off their pride it really brought the magic into the week preparing for homecoming.
Some students really love to go up and out, especially seniors. They wanna make their last year memorable and join all the activities. Sometimes there’s even deeper things that make them want to participate more.
“A chance to be creative in participating as well as showing others it’s okay to be a little silly and have fun sometimes, most people don’t actually care how you dress so having fun with the theme always brightens my week”. – Maya Inzunza
At the end of the school day the homecoming assembly took place where they announced freshman, sophomore, and junior court. The seniors were pronounced later that night at the homecoming football game on the freedom field. Kendal Jones and Jaiden Martinez were nominated and won court for class of 26’. The weather was extreme and due to the conditions the game had been pushed back from starting an hour. They started up around 8:00 and took out Desert Oasis 45-0.

Wrapping up all this wonderful and magical spirit Liberty brought, Homecoming finally hit! Stoneys kicked off this year and gave Liberty a homecoming to remember! They featured a photo booth, 2 bars on either side, and pool tables in the back where lots of students got to hang out. All the moments captured in the booth had a link sent out on the @_weareliberty Instagram page. The file was filled with over 100+ photos of groups, single portraits, and even couples!
