Are you interested in marketing, finance, management, or entrepreneurship? Want to boost your resume, gain real-world skills, and connect with like-minded people across the country? DECA might be exactly the place for you. If that’s the case, you should go to portable 10 after school on mondays. It’s open to anyone interested in building communication skills and preparing yourself for a job interview.

This student-led organization prepares high school students to become emerging leaders through-hands on projects, competitive events, and career-focused learning. “We practice role plays, work on projects, and prepare for state competition in February.” says Brooklyn Wangrycht , a senior and the president of DECA. Competitions are a big part of the DECA experience. Students can compete at the district, state, and international levels. Events range from marketing presentations to hospitality projects, with winners advancing to the International Career Development Conference, this year being held in Atlanta. “The competition process builds critical skills like public speaking and confidence.” says Alicia Cruz, a sophomore and a member of DECA. Members spend the year preparing through study sessions, mock roleplays, and project work, all judged by professionals in the fi

eld you choose.
Beyond competitions, DECA helps students grow as future professionals. From networking with alumni to improving resumes and college applications, the organization opens doors for internships and career opportunities. “It gives you experience that sets you apart,” says Izzy Grady, a junior and vp of marketing. Whether you plan to go into business or simply want to build leadership and communication skills, DECA offers the tools to help you succeed. Ready to level up your future?
