How Are The Phone Pouches Going So Far?

New Year, new rules! The 2024-2025 school year has officially started. There have been new rules set in place and having phone pouches in every classroom is one of them. There are a lot of opinions about having the phone pouches in school.

Jasmine Sylvester, a 10th grader thinks that the phone pouches have been going good so far this year. She states, “I think the phone pouches are going well, the teachers aren’t being too strict on it and are giving time at the end of class to let me be on it.”

On the other hand, Shaena Alina, an 11th grader disagrees with that. She states, “I don’t think it’s going great, there’s a lot of people still taking their phones out when they aren’t supposed to.” Even though there are mixed feelings about the phone pouches it has helped students. Ailine Lolesio explains how the pouches help her pay more attention. Lolesio says, “Me personally the phone pouches have been really helpful for me this year because I pay more attention in class when my phone is in the pouches. Alina and Sylvester also agree with the phone pouches being more helpful for them and it helping them pay attention during lectures.

When asking Sylvester if they would rather have the phone pouches or not she stated, “I would rather have the phone pouches but rarely use them.” She went on to explain that sometimes the pouches could be helpful but when she has completed her work she thinks that she should be able to take her phone out of the pouches.

When asking how Lolesio thinks the pouches have helped the teachers she states, “It has helped the teachers a lot because students are paying more

attention in class and aren’t glued to their phones while they are teaching.”

There are still a lot of opinions about the phone pouches but so far it seems to be that there are no problems with the pouches and it is going pretty smoothly.
