Announced July 28, 2024 at the San Diego Comic Con that Robert Downey Jr would be coming back to the MCU, however with a small twist. The heroic, quick witted, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark, or more commonly known as Iron Man would not be returning. Instead RDJ would be playing Dr.Doom in Avengers: DoomsDay and Avengers: Secret War, directed by the Russo brothers.
This news broke the internet hyping up marvel fans around the world…however, that brought up a lot of questions concerning marvels plot, characters and overall the future of the MCU. Kevin Feige pitched the idea that RDJ could return to the MCU as Victor Von Doom(AKA Dr.Doom) in-
the upcoming Avengers movies with Doom being the new Big Bad, but many fans are left to wonder, what about Khang the Conqueror? “Kang would have been one of the best villains in the MCU might be a little better than Dr.Doom but Dr.Doom is an ok addition.”-Kevin C
While Ant Man:Quantumania flopped, grossing, 476.1 Million world wide, the Introduction to the Villain being a Multiversal Conqueror really sparked the fans interest, & with Loki being such a huge success giving Khang a likable character, it made many want to see more of Khang. Now With RDJ coming back to the MCU as Dr.Doom, many wonder what will happen to Khang?
To add on, the fans are worried about RDJ coming back as doctor doom, pondering if he can play a different role after having such a great performance as Iron-Man. According to Kevin C, he states that “RDJ is one of the best actors of all time so of course he will be a great villain.”
Finally, Many fans are predicting that Dr.doom will be killing off different characters before dr.doom dies in the second movie. “Dr.Doom is going to try and kill everyone in the multiverse, until he meets the Avengers and loses.” is the prediction Limu Harris made.
