Spring is here, marking the beginning of prom season. This year, we’re unveiling a unique and exciting theme: Unmask the Night, inspired by the vibrant Louisiana Mardi Gras.
Now, some people wonder, what decided that prom theme? Well, Samara Chua, who is the student council junior class historian, gave an answer! “Everyone voted on masquerade, but we couldn’t plan the spirit week, like there’s no themed days off of masquerade. So we had to incorporate another twist, which was Mardi Gras.” On April 26, 2024, the Junior and Senior prom will be held at the DragonRidge Country Club from 6 pm to 9 pm.
There will be spirit days on the week of prom from the 22nd to the 25th to excite students for the dance on Friday. On Monday, April 22, juniors wear green, and seniors wear purple to be down in New Orleans! After school, there will be a dodgeball tournament for only juniors and seniors at 4 pm. To join, you have to sign up by April 18th. Students can scan the QR code posted around school or go on the @_weareliberty Instagram page. It costs $2 at the door to play. Tuesday is a crew day: match clothes with a friend or date. Wednesday, wear gold or silver for bling out day. Lastly, on Thursday, wear your pre-prom pajamas! Many students love the prom theme that was decided. A junior, Mercedecez Bornis, expressed, “I like it. I’m just excited to dress up!” The student council’s juniors create the creative theme and spirit week for prom every year.
Keila Arredondo is one of those many juniors on the council. She explained that “Prom can be a little chaotic when planning just because of the amount of time we have. Overall, it’s going to be really fun especially since we have a lot of stuff for the upperclassmen that we are excited for them to see.”
A significant high school memory is planned by your peers. Though it is not an easy task, the outcome is beautiful. So, are you going to prom?
