Zamier Marshall (12) is one of Liberty’s football players that has committed to a college. Marshall committed to Concordia University of Wisconsin.
“Freshman year I made it on the JV football team. It was very hard to get on time with the practices and managing the high school homework. High school is a faster pace and you have more classes. It is just harder to keep up with everything. While focusing on school I was also nervous about my competition. You’re playing against people who are bigger than you now. It is nerve racking,” said Marshall (12)
Zamier had set several goals for himself with academics and football. He strives to be an all round outstanding student and he pushes himself to the limits to be the best football player that he can be.
“My main goal going into high school was to be a starter and I want to move up to varsity. I had to have the positive mindset to reach my goal. Once I got that starting position on JV, later that season I got moved up to varsity for playoffs. At the end of the season I also got defensive player of the year,” said Marshall (12)
Zamier wants to encourage young athletes who want to go to college for their sport and wants to get a scholarship, keep striving towards your goal, never give up, and keep a positive attitude.
“Never give up. My junior year I faced an injury and I had to sit out for seven games, but I am still going to college for football. Keep your hopes high, have faith, and believe in yourself. When you keep working and strive for the best you’re going to be the best. It’s more mental than it is physical,” said Marshall (12)
College has a larger campus and more classes than high school. It’s a scary thing to move out of state and challenge yourself to grow as an individual without your loved ones.
“I’m nervous going to college, but at the same time I am excited to play. Without having a senior year it makes me more excited to play football. Right now I have the goal that I want to go and be the starter in college. I’m setting goals everyday. The scariest part is being alone. I have no one telling me what to do. I have to think on my own now.” said Marshall (12)
Overall, Zamier Marshall is an inspirational football player, who strives everyday trying to reach his goals in life. Wish you the best of luck at Concordia University of Wisconsin next season.
