Are you interested in serving your community and helping others? National Honor Society is a nationwide club that focuses on community service. The four pillars that the NHS is based on are scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The National Honor Society values academic excellence, teamwork, commitment to the community, and a desire to help others. The Liberty chapter of NHS meets on Wednesdays right after school in Mrs. Waugh’s room (801).
The National Honor Society helps students build their leadership and volunteer skills. The club requires 10 service hours each quarter, which can be completed by
volunteering at various service events that the club organizes. NHS will be volunteering at Liberty soccer games, the St. Jude Walk/Run, Ellis Elementary’s Fall Festival, and recycling on Wednesday’s after school. In order to be an NHS member you must fill out an application. While first semester applications have closed, there will be applications for second semester in the future.

When interviewed, NHS representatives Piper Pelton and Brycen Ozawa stated that their favorite thing about the club was the opportunity to help people in need. The representatives also wished that people knew that the NHS was not just about community service, but also about dedication, kindness, and effort. They wanted to join the National Honor Society because they hoped to strengthen their communication and organizational skills. So if you’re looking to help support your community, learn how to be a leader, and a volunteer, check out the National Honor Society on Wednesdays in room 801.
