Steve Lacy 2022
On July 15, 2022, Steve Lacy dropped Gemini Rights, a US Top Alternative Albums #1 charter. After the album started becoming immensely popular and well received by the public, Lacy announced he would be doing a U.S. tour for the album called the Give You The World Tour. The tour started off in Denver, CO on October 2nd where tickets went on sale for $30 but quickly sold out and were going for over $200 on the resale market. This is how it was for every stop on the tour making it hard for the average person to attend.
Luckily, I was able to get tickets and attend the Las Vegas show at The House of Blues on October 31. The show opened with Foushee, female R&B artist with over 4 million monthly listeners on spotify, co writer of Gemini Rights, and featured on some of Steve Lacy’s top songs including Sunshine and Bad Habit. Her set lasted for 30 minutes where she played unreleased music as well as her top songs. Once the set was over, there was a 30 minute intermission and then the madness began. Steve opened with the song Buttons and continued to play songs from all of his albums and even some demos. The crowd sang the lyrics to every song and it was overall a very surreal experience. At the end of his set, the crowd yelled “One more song!”, and “Encore!”, until Steve finally came back out to play his 3rd top song, Dark Red.
