On February 5, 2023 the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California hosted the 65th annual Grammy Awards. With around 12.4 Million people watching the awards from the comfort of their homes and hundreds in person, this year’s Grammys was an event for the books.
As always, the awards kicked off with a fabulous red carpet hosting artists across multiple genres in designer wear. After everyone took their seats and the ceremony started, all eyes were on Beyonce, who was nominated for 9 categories and forecasted to break the record for the most awarded singer in history. Even though she only won 4 out of 9 nominations, she still broke the record and now has 32 Grammy Awards in her possession.
The shock among the audience on February 5 was the loss Beyonce took for album of the year. Her album, Renaissance, was up against other amazing artists such as Lizzo’s Special, Kendrick Lamar;s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, and Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti. Beyonce was predicted to win by a long shot but with a miraculous turn of events, Harry’s House by Harry Styles took the win.
The 91 categories that were announced at the ceremony allowed for a very diverse group of winners and overall a seemingly happy viewership in the end. Between announcing winners, the audience also got amazing performances from stars like Bad Bunny, Steve Lacy, Luke Combs, Lizzo, Kim Petras, and Sam Smith.
With many ups and downs and an overall emotional rollercoaster of a show, the Grammys 2023 has come to a close, but with many artists already recording and producing new albums, next year’s is sure to be just as amazing!
