At Liberty high school sports are an important part in day to day life. Arguably the most important sport there is basketball. 

  During the 2021 – 2022 season the men’s basketball team won the state championship and they have aspirations of repeating. Tommy Alrick, a player on the team was asked if he was confident in the season moving forward and he had this to say “I’m very confident in the season. The games have been going good, we’ve been playing some really good schools that have definitely made us better. I think we’re definitely gonna run it back.” The team is clearly hopeful for the future and definitely a close knit group. Tommy was also asked what the team stood for and he said this “ I think the team stands for hard work and dedication. We are really a family on and off the court as well.” This team is ready for this season and it is very evident. Currently ranked inside the top 25 they hope to move up to 1

The women’s basketball team also has big aspirations for the season moving forward. They have played games already and they went amazingly. Reese Chesnut, a player on the team was asked about the games and this is what she had to say, “our season is going really well so far. we won our first tournament 4-0. Then won our preseason game at home, and won again against foothill.” With a start like that it’s hard to not be confident moving forward so she was also asked how she feels about the season moving forward she responded with this “yes i’m confident this season. we have a strong team and a family like atmosphere we are all putting in the work to get better together and I can see us going far this season.” With chemistry and a family like atmosphere it is hard for them not to succeed.  This team has the ability to go far and they stand for the correct things such as “family and effort. we are all really close and treat each other as sisters which is why we genuinely have fun playing with each other. we play for each other and make sure we are working to improve ourselves for our team.” According to Reese

  Liberty basketball is going to be a problem for other teams going into this year. With all the talent, the great coaching staff and the right values it will be tough for any team to compete.
